Brian Griner Obituary

Brian Curry Griner, a son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on September 4, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 59. Born on April 22, 1966, in Linden, Tennessee, to Savannah Irene King Griner and the late Billy Curry Griner, Brian's life was marked by a loving spirit and a dedication to the well-being of others.

Brian grew up surrounded by love and laughter, a building block that would shape his caring nature throughout his life. His family was his rock, including his mother Irene, his brothers Rick (and wife Dana) Griner, David S. Griner, and his beloved sister-cousin Jennifer (and husband Josh) Stutts. He was a ray of joy for his nieces and nephews Brittany (and T.J.) Remec, Dane Curry Griner, Kaylie Stutts, Sophie Stutts, and Aly (and Mason) Richardson, and his great-niece Billie Lee Remec.

Brian was preceded in death by his beloved father: Billy Griner, sister: Connye Griner Karpel, nephew: Chad Curry Griner, and aunt: Wanda Carroll.

Brian's memory will also be carried on by his extended family and a vast circle of friends who knew his kindness.

Brian's academic pursuit in the field of social services was a testament to his compassion for his community.  Achieving a master’s degree in social services, he went on to work as a Licensed Professional Counselor, dedicating his career to uplifting and supporting those in need. His professional life was as much a calling as it was a job.

An avid fan of 80's sitcoms, Brian found humor in shows like "The Golden Girls" and "Designing Women." His love for hiking, reading history books, and traveling was matched only by the joy he found in the company of his family and friends. Every Saturday night, he would stay with his beloved Mama, and together they would attend Sunday services at Hohenwald Church of Christ, a statement to his unwavering commitment to faith and family.

Brian was known as the "funcle" in the family - always there to share a laugh, a word of wisdom, or a comforting hug. His presence was a constant reminder that love knows no distance, and that the bonds of family are unbreakable.

The final farewell to Brian will be held with love and reverence. Visitation with family and friends is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 5:00-8:00 pm at Hohenwald Church of Christ. Funeral services will commence at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, with Brother David Adcox officiating and Brother Steve Selby leading the congregational singing. The esteemed honor of serving as pallbearers will be Kevin King, Darryl King, Garry Horner, Larry Horner, Josh Stutts, and Mason Richardson.
