Carol Walker Obituary

Carol Elizabeth Walker, a woman of love and joy, left this world on January 17, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on August 5, 1949, in Mt. Pleasant, TN, Carol's life journey came to a peaceful end in Columbia, TN, surrounded by the warmth of her loving family.

Carol was a woman of many talents and a heart that overflowed with kindness. Her skill as a seamstress was one of the many ways she expressed her love, sewing beautiful garments for her beloved daughter, Beth, including her high school prom dresses. Her hands were also skilled with a paintbrush and pencil, bringing life to canvases and drawing pads with her artistry. Carol's home was often filled with the delightful aromas of her cooking, a legacy of cooking skills passed down from her mother, Mildred. She enjoyed reading and found solace and inspiration in the pages of her Bible, embracing her faith as a steadfast Christian. For over 30 years, Carol was a devoted member of Little Swan Church of Christ, where she formed many enduring friendships.

Her professional life included over 15 years of service at Lawson's Fabric Shop, a place where she believed her purpose extended beyond the fabric and thread, becoming a source of support and a listening ear to those who entered. Carol's gentle nature was balanced with a sparkling sense of humor and a readiness to share laughter, even if it meant being the subject of a joke. Her observant eyes were always looking out for others, placing their needs ahead of her own.

As a wife, Carol was loving and caring to her husband, Steve, for nearly 53 years. Her bond with her sister, Sherry, was profound, marked by daily conversations that reflected the depth of their
connection. Perhaps the role that brought her the greatest joy was that of Mop, the affectionate title bestowed upon her by her grandsons, Brett and Drew. She reveled in their accomplishments
and cherished watching them grow and learn.

Carol was a living example of a Proverbs woman, her faithfulness and servant's heart leaving an indelible mark on those who knew her.

Carol leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness, survived by her husband Steve Walker; daughter Beth (David) Stange; siblings Malcolm (Betsy) Tarkington, Billy (Marlene) Tarkington,
Gary Tarkington, Murray (Susie) Tarkington, Sherry Gore, and brother-in-law Terry Walker. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandsons Brett and Drew Stange, along with a loving
extended family and a host of friends. Carol was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Mildred Tarkington, and her siblings Sue Burris and Patsy Curtis.

As Helen Keller once said, "What we have once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Carol's spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she touched.
