David Lewis Whitehead

Mr. David Lewis Whitehead 71 of Hohenwald passed away January 10,2021 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia. He was born February 28,1949 to the late Jesse James and Edna Riley Whitehead in Hohenwald at the Boyce Clinic. Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife Glenda Sue Whitehead, brothers Coy, Oscar, Roy, and Paul Whitehead, and sisters Anna Lee Wright and Ruby Nell Skelton Decker. Mr. Whitehead proudly served in the United States Army before retiring after twenty years of dedicated service.

In his spare time David enjoyed woodworking, reading western novels and gardening. He is well known in Hohenwald for his vast knowledge of Lewis County. He was part of the historical society and was always the go to for answers to questions about the history of the community. If you could not find an answer, he was always willing to help in anyway possible. He enjoyed sitting down and taking a trip through time in conversations with locals. He will be missed by not only his family, but the community of Lewis county as well.

Mr. Whitehead leaves behind to cherish his memory his children Janice (Kevin) Bell, James (Kimberly) Whitehead; stepdaughter Rhonda Tucker; grandchildren Christopher (Virginia) Treadwell, Makenzie Bell, Garett Whitehead, Bradlee Whitehead, and Mason Whitehead; and great grandchildren Elaina Treadwell, Atlas Treadwell, and granddaughter on the way Nova Lee Himes.

A memorial service will be announced later when it becomes available.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to be made to Adair Funeral & Cremation Services to  help offset the funeral expenses.
