Edith Westbrooks Obituary

Edith Westbrooks, a woman of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2024, at the age of 88 in Columbia, TN. Born on February 20, 1936, in Hohenwald, TN, she was the cherished daughter of the late Jeff and Gina Escue.

As a dedicated homemaker, Edith's hands were rarely still; she filled her home with the love woven into her sewing and quilting. Her passion for creating beauty was matched only by her love for nurturing the flowers in her garden. Yet, it was her family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she loved to spend her time the most, creating memories that would outlast her lifetime.

Edith’s journey through life was shared with her late husband, Herbert B. Westbrooks, a partnership that was a wellspring of strength and joy within their family. Together, they built a legacy of love, one that has been carried on through their children, Barry Hensley, Janice Bates, Jim Runions, Sandra Anderson, and Larry Runions. Her role as a mother was one, she cherished deeply, guiding her children with a gentle hand and a generous heart.

Her love extended to her adoring grandchildren, Richard Long, Tara Belew, Jason Long, David Anderson, Andy Anderson, Dustin Runions, Kasha Burnitt, Sarah Runions, Tamara Runions, Kasha O'Connell, Timothy Dickerson, Carlie Hensley, Chole Hensley, Lea Peters, Bentley Royston, Olivia Hunsicker and Jennifer, all of whom she showered with affection and pride. The legacy of her kind and loving spirit will continue to flourish through her host of great-grandchildren.

Edith was predeceased not only by her husband but also by her grandson Brandon Bates, her sister Ava Jean Whitehead, her daughter-in-law Amanda Runions and Sue Ann Runions. The memory of their shared lives brings comfort to those who mourn Edith’s passing, as they recall the bonds of love and family that united them all.

In her quiet moments, Edith found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her hands, always skilled and caring, crafted not only beautiful quilts but also a home filled with love. Her heart, always open and giving, created a family that knew they were deeply cherished. Edith's legacy is one of unwavering love.
