Eric Vance Calvin

Mr. Eric Vance Calvin left this earthly world on February 8,2023, at the age of 54, when he lost his 26-yearlong battle with cancer. He was born on July 25, 1968, in Madison, TN, to the late Rohn Vance and Annette Holloway Calvin. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt, Florence Holloway and his uncle, Hoover Holloway.

He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. before being medically discharged. After which he made a career as a contractor. Eric enjoyed anything that brought him outdoors, from trot-lining to coon hunting. But on Saturdays, during football season, you would find him in front of a tv rooting for his favorite football team, the Tennessee Vols, to say he was a “fan” would be an understatement. He always enjoyed having his friends around, especially those that were there by his side through his battle with cancer. Yet the one thing that brought him true, undeniable happiness was his FAMILY! Nothing made him happier than playing with his grandson and spending time with his daughter. The love he had for his family was the reason Eric fought so long and so painfully hard to live. He was truly a loving and devoted father and grandfather. To his family and friends, Eric will always be remembered as one of the greatest fighters of all time, because for 26 years he fought this battle whole heartedly, never taking a single minute for granted and always making sure that his loved ones knew how much he loved them. All the while struggling with the unimaginable pain, just so he could spend one more day with the ones he held dear. That’s the man, the father, the Pop-Pop, the brother and the friend we will always remember and forever love.

To carry on his memory, Eric leaves behind his daughter, Erica Nicole Calvin (Elston Bridges), grandson, Bryce Kayden Vance Brown, siblings Mike Holloway, Eddie Holloway and Debbie (Tim) Devore; and the mother of his loving daughter, Kimberly Carroll; as well as several cousins and many dear and close friends.

A “Celebration of Life” will take place Saturday, February 18,2023 from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Adair Chapel.
