Eunice Jane Higgins Cotham, known affectionately as Jane by those who loved her, was born on May 10, 1928, in Perry County, Tennessee. Jane's life journey ended on October 12, 2023, in Hohenwald, Tennessee, where she lived a life of joy, love, and compassion.
Jane was the beloved daughter of the late James and Lydia Skelton Higgins. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Wallace Cotham, and a loving mother to her children. Jane was predeceased by her son, David Cotham, and her daughter, Linda Shultz. She is survived by her cherished daughter, Judy (Dennis) Herrin.
Jane's greatest joy came from her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She is remembered by her grandchildren Laura Herrin, Kevin Herrin, Carla Moyer, Christi Hale, Wesley Shultz, and Bethany Shultz. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Derek Herrin, Jordan Webb, Brady Herrin, Jaden Grantham, Lainey Grantham, Parker Herrin, Kenna Moyer, Everly Moyer, and Crockett Hale, as well as her great-great-grandchildren, Macky Herrin and Aria Herrin. Jane was predeceased by her beloved grandson, Carson Herrin.
Jane's life was one of service and caring for others. She was a caregiver by profession and made a significant impact on the lives of many through her work. Her kindness and compassion were evident in every aspect of her life.
Jane's interests were simple yet profound. She found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She also had a passion for flowers, planting them anywhere she could find space. Jane's gardens reflected her love and care, bringing beauty and joy to all who saw them.
Jane is fondly remembered by her special friends Joyce Plunkett, Lisa Fuller, Loreita Churchwell, Diana Runions, and Dr. Gibran Naddy. Their friendships added warmth and richness to her life, and their support and companionship were deeply appreciated.
Jane's life was characterized by her loving nature, her gentle spirit, and her passionate heart. She was a beacon of love and kindness in the lives of all who knew her. Her influence will be felt for generations to come, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. Jane's spirit will continue to bloom in the gardens she loved.
Visitation with family and friends will be held in the chapel of Adair Funeral & Cremation Services on Wednesday October 18, 2023, from 11:00 until time of service of 1:00 pm. A burial will follow in Edwards cemetery.
