Lt. Darin D Pasold

August 7, 1969 ~ November 27, 2021 (age 52)

Obituary

When one sits and thinks about a true angel in the community, most wouldn’t hesitate to think of Lt. Darin Pasold.  He gave everything he had to our small community in his short time here. On November 27, 2021, his work here was done, and he left our earthly world. He was born on August 7, 1969, in Chadron, Nebraska to Mr. Dean Arthur Pasold and the late Catherine Jean Bernhardt Pasold. Along with his mother he was preceded in death by his grandparents Meme and Bill Schlecht and Lois and Jerry McKerrigan.

Darin began his lifelong career and passion at the young age of 16 when he became a junior firefighter. He would then branch out to becoming a structure firefighter in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and then to wild land firefighter for the national park services before settling with his now brothers the Hohenwald Fire Department. There was nothing he enjoyed more than helping the community of Hohenwald. His bigger than life personality and witty humor made gray skies blue and guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

He became involved in Christmas in Hohenwald and could be seen giving the families rides around town on the Christmas Train. He had a love for trains and one side hobby was building model trains and planes in his spare time.

Some may not know but Darin was a fanatic for the Battle of Little Big Horn and could be found with his family doing civil war reenactments throughout many different states. When not on the battlefields he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching his son Grant race. He was a friend that you never had to question and knew he would be there anytime you needed him.

In addition to his father, Darin leaves behind to cherish the legacy he has left, his wife Kessta Swinea Pasold; children Ansley Pasold (Oakley Johns), Grant Pasold, Briane Werner, Noah and Aubrey Barnes, and Lakota Prentice; his sister Amber (Mike) Zimmerman; and his grand dog Dexter Rosco Pasold Johns. He also leaves behind a family of the heart Terry and Bev Jacobson; in-laws Red and Sandra Swinea, and Lisa Webb; brother in laws Matt (Crystal) Swinea and Zack (Sarah) Swinea; and special friends Kare (Rob) Menacher and Stephen (Sarah) Lyell and family; uncle Don (Carol) Schlecht; the mother of his children and friend Jan Pasold; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and all his Hohenwald Fire Department Brothers.
