Obituary

Mark H. Dillehay, Vietnam veteran, accomplished hunter, successful fisherman, avid marksman, and golf
enthusiast passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023, three days in advance of his 78th birthday. He
courageously fought two wars; Vietnam and cancer.

Mark was a retired commercial painter. He impressed people throughout his life with his gift of
storytelling, and his hilarious method of sharing jokes followed by bouts of hearty laughter. He was well
known for his ability to lavish praise on folks for completing a job well done. He was faithful in his
prayer life and loved Jesus. He was a man who knew exactly what he liked, he was old school, patriotic,
and a true southern gentleman.

Sgt. Mark H. Dillehay served in the Vietnam War 1967-1968 in the 187th Infantry Battalion, 101st Airborne
Division. He proudly displayed 14 flags at his residence for the friends he served with in combat who did
not make it home.

He loved SEC football, tackling home projects around his lil’ slice of paradise (Home in Hohenwald),
traveling within the USA (Glacier National Park was the most beautiful destination), cruising in his
Corvette, gardening and hanging out with family and friends. His weekly outings to Burger King with his
Church family were always a highlight.
Originally from Nashville, Mark was preceded in death by his parents Mark and Juanita Dillehay and his
sister Nancy Kuehl. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 25 years, Cathy and his two
canine angels; Dixie and Zip.
He is survived by two daughters in the Middle Tennessee area; Pam Little (her husband, Tom) and
Tammy Benoit. He is also survived by two brothers: Terry Dillehay (wife, Gloria) and Darrell Dillehay
(wife, Teresa) and special friend, Kate Crowder.
Adair Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
