On June 27, 2023, Ms. Mattie Ruth Flippo Skelton peacefully left her earthly home and was reunited with her husband and family. Mattie was born in Waynesboro, TN. to the late William and Stella Pearl Flippo on January 11, 1934. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Herbert C. Skelton; her children Brenda Clark, Patsy Whitehead, Norma Jones, and Linda Skelton; and several brothers and sisters.
In her free time, Ms. Mattie enjoyed gardening, flowers, quilting and spending time with her family. She worked for Dana Corporation until her retirement and babysat. She was a devout Christian attending Blondy and Central Christian Fellowship in Hohenwald for over 40 years.
Her memory will carry on in those she has left behind including her sons Billy (Faye) Skelton, Lester (Becky) Skelton, and Ricky (Mary) Skelton; her siblings Bill Hicks and Ruby Hammock; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great grandchildren and two more on the way.
Visitation with family and friends will be held in the chapel of Adair Funeral & Cremation Services on Thursday June 29, 2023, from 4:00-8:00. Funeral services will take place Friday June 30, 2023, at 11:00 with brother Bill Webb officiating with burial to follow in Memorial Gardens.
