Michael Caldwell Obituary

On April 21, 2022, CW2 Michael Alexander Caldwell (US Army retired) unexpectedly passed away at his Linden home at the age of 70.  Michael was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on September 9, 1951, to Mrs. Jacqueline Arline Caskey Caldwell and the late Lt. Col. Boley Harvey Caldwell III (US Army retired).

Where does one start with the many accomplishments Michael has achieved in his time here? He made it a lifelong career to serve and protect by enlisting in the United States Army where he fought in the Vietnam War and over the years became a CID agent.  After retiring from the Army, his dedication to the armed forces didn’t end.  He was a lifetime member of the VFW, Chairman of the Perry County Veterans Association, Commander of American Legion Post #176, a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1123 – Perry County and a member of the CIDAA (CID Agents Association).  Following his service in the Army, he continued to serve and protect by becoming a Dallas (TX) Police Officer.  After moving to Tennessee he served as a volunteer Shelby County (Memphis, TN) Sheriff until moving to Linden, TN.

The achievements do not stop there. He was a member and Past Master of the Bartlett Masonic Lodge #211, as well as a member of other Masonic organizations such as Al Chymia Shrine, Volunteer Chapter 414 National Sojourners, Memphis Scottish Rite, Rosemark York Rite Bodies, West Tennessee Forest Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and Emerald Isle Council Allied Masonic Degrees.

During his quiet time, he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and loving on his sweet grandchildren.  He loved being outdoors and would often go camping and fishing or just stay at home working on the farm.

CW2 Caldwell leaves behind his wife of 39 years Mrs. Timothy Ann McNeely Caldwell; sons Christopher Miles Caldwell (April) and Matthew Edward Chalmers Caldwell (Nicole); siblings Cathy Lynn Caldwell Powers (Kyle), Patrick Harvey Caldwell, Timothy Mason Caldwell, and Mark William Caldwell (Norma); five beautiful grandchildren (Addyson, Connor, Abigail, Aiden, and Reese) and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at 2863 Lego School Road, Linden, TN.  An additional Masonic service will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022, in Bartlett, TN, at the Bartlett Masonic Lodge.  Adair Funeral & Cremation Services will be assisting the family with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis, MO, (4400 Clayton Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63110) or to a charity of your choice.
