Susan E (Wheeler) Combs

Susan E. Wheeler Combs: born September 26, 1955, died August 21, 2023, in Linden, TN. She hailed from Athens, GA, and was born to Larry D. Wheeler Sr., and Evie M. Wheeler. After graduating from Clarke Central High School in 1973, she studied Cosmetology at Athens Technical School. Until 2012, she worked as a lab technician at Athens Regional Hospital.

Her steadfast faith in God carried her. She excelled in various arts: poetry, drawing, painting, and music. With a caring, loving nature, she was a devoted wife, mother, and daughter. Her infectious humor spread joy. Though she will be missed, she embraced meeting her Savior.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Roger A. Combs, and her parents, Larry D. Wheeler Sr., and Evie M. Wheeler, as well as siblings Larry D. Wheeler Jr., Carolyn Wheeler Thornton (Bobby), B. Randall Wheeler (Margaret), and J. Curtis Wheeler (Cathy).

She is survived by her children: Wesley P. Terrell (Michelle), Christopher A. Combs (Felicity), L. Ashley Combs (Kevin), and Elsa Garcia; siblings Dr. Rebecca Wheeler Bunce and Andy C. Wheeler (Andrea); as well as numerous cherished grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial will be held on September 2, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Mars Hill Baptist Church in Oconee County, preceded by visitation at 12 noon. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
