William George Bernhardt

William George Bernhardt passed away on February 4, 2025, at the age of 83.  He was born on June 27, 1941, in Mansfield, Ohio.  William was the youngest son of the late Carl and Barbara Bernhardt (Weingartner).

William is survived by his wife Margaret Bernhardt.  His Children William  (Nicole) Bernhardt, Shelly Hobbs, and Lanita (Timothy) Aupperle. His sister, Shirley Bertka, also survives him, along with his five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. William was the youngest of sixteen children.

Known by friends and family as “Bill”, he was always ready to lend a helping hand to others. Bill worked well into his seventies and lovingly cared for his late wife Nancy (Newby) until her passing.

He spent his last few years with his children and his former wife Lanita Bernhardt (Orman).  He enjoyed going to restaurants, nature watching, fishing, and watching westerns.  Bill was a great jokester and never met a stranger.

The family is grateful to the nurses and caregivers who helped with his care in his last years, as he battled melanoma.  He passed peacefully at home with family at his side.

There are no services planned. Adair Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
