Ms. Wilma Jean Melton of Hohenwald passed away on Thursday February 10, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Hohenwald to the late Horace Eugene Melton and Edith Reed Patterson on September 2, 1937.
Wilma, known as Aunt Wilma, to almost everyone, began her walk with the Lord at the tender age of 5 years old. There was never a time that you spoke with her that she wasn’t talking about the goodness of our Heavenly Father. There is no way to know how many lives she has touched in her 84 years. Intercessor, Singer, praise and worship leader, witness for Christ, but most importantly she loved The Lord with everything inside of her. She never had biological children of her own but has dozens of nieces and nephews she claimed as her very own. That doesn’t include all the people who claim “Aunt Wilma" as their own.
Ms. Melton is survived by her sisters Helen (Andy) San Miguel, Shirley Garland; brothers Ronnie (Peggy) Melton and Darriel (Louise) Patterson; and a very special friend Carmen Porretta.
Along with her parents Ms. Melton is also preceded in death by her loving stepfather Melvin Patterson; sisters Daisy Martin, Patricia Elliott, Delores (Chee-Chee) McCaleb; and a brother Harold Melton.
Visitation with family and friends will be Sunday February 13, 2022, from 10:00-2:00 in the chapel of Adair Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 with brothers Andy San Miguel and Bill Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Davis-Oak Grove Cemetery.
